Bradford Memorial Library is at 611 S. Washington, in El Dorado, Kansas.  The Children’s Department is on the lower level.  Children under the age of seven must be accompanied by and actively supervised by an adult while in the library.

Library hours are:

9:00 – 8:00  Monday through Thursday.

9:00 – 5:00 Friday and Saturday

Closed on Sunday

The Children’s Department provides books and materials for children ages  birth through sixth grade.

The collection includes, fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, board books, audio books, DVDs, and music CDs. There is a section of graded reader books for beginning readers.  We also have a selection of magazines.

Our parent/teacher collection is designed to help with parenting and provide resources for those who work with children.

COMPUTERS

Computers are available for use by children aged 13 and under. You must have a library card to use the computers. Children under the age of 18 must have an internet permission card signed by a parent on file to access the internet.  The computers are available on a first come, first served basis.   An  hour a day is the maximum time allowed on the computers, in 30 minute sessions.

There are two AWE Early Literacy Stations available for use for up to an hour a day per patron. They are not connected to the internet and do not require a library card.

 PROGRAMMING

Toddler Time, for kids between eighteen and thirty-six months old, is at 10:00 on Friday mornings

Preschool Story Time, for kids ages three to five years old, is presented Thursday mornings at 10:00.

  A schedule for grades K-5 is available on our current events calendar.

Builders Club meets Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 for Elementary ages, Grades K-5th. This is a come and go program.

Make and Take Crafts meets the second Wednesday of the month for all ages.

A Summer Reading Program is offered each year in June and July.

LIBRARY CARDS

Library cards are free but the individual must fill out an application card. The applicant must have a valid state photo ID and provide proof of current address and social security number. A valid Kansas driver’s license is preferred. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign as the responsible party. The adult must be present at the time of application.
